What does my suspension actually do?
Your suspension keeps your tires in contact with the road, absorbs bumps, and keeps the car stable through turns and braking. Shocks and struts control the bounce; control arms, ball joints, and bushings locate the wheels and let them move smoothly. When any of it wears, ride quality, handling, and tire life all suffer.
What are the signs my suspension needs service?
A bouncy or floaty ride, excessive body roll or nose-diving when braking, clunking over bumps, loose or wandering steering, uneven tire wear, or one corner sitting low. Any of these is worth an inspection — worn suspension parts also accelerate tire wear, so catching it early saves money.
How often do shocks and struts need replacing?
Most shocks and struts last somewhere between 50,000 and 100,000 miles, depending on the vehicle and the roads you drive. They wear gradually, so a lot of drivers don’t notice how much ride and control they’ve lost until the new ones go in. We’ll tell you honestly whether yours are due.
Can worn suspension damage my tires?
