How do I know if my brakes need service?
The most common signs are noise (squealing or grinding), feel (a soft or pulsing pedal), and behavior (the car pulling to one side, or taking longer to stop). Any one of those — bring it in. Brake problems get worse fast, and waiting usually turns a small repair into a bigger one.
How often should I have my brakes inspected?
At least once a year, or every 12,000 to 15,000 miles — whichever comes first. A quick inspection catches wear before it becomes a safety issue, and it’s easy to pair with an oil change so you stay ahead of it.
What’s included in brake service?
It depends on what your vehicle needs. A typical brake pad replacement covers the pads plus inspection of the rotors, calipers, hardware, and brake fluid. If rotors are worn or warped we’ll let you know — and we never replace a part that doesn’t need it. Full rebuilds (pads, rotors, calipers, lines, master cylinder) are well within what we do.
Why are my brakes squealing?
Squealing usually means one of three things: worn pads (the wear indicator contacting the rotor is your built-in warning), glazed pads from heat, or simply dust and debris. The only way to know which is an inspection — bring it in and we’ll diagnose it on the spot.
How long do brake pads last?
Most brake pads last 30,000 to 70,000 miles depending on driving style, vehicle weight, and pad type. Stop-and-go city driving wears pads faster than highway miles. When the wear indicator starts to squeal, that’s your cue to come in.
How long does brake service take?
Most brake pad replacements take 1 to 2 hours. A full brake job (pads plus rotors and hardware) typically runs 2 to 3 hours. More involved repairs — calipers, brake lines, ABS — depend on the diagnosis. We’ll give you a clear time estimate up-front when we quote the work.
