How do I know if I need engine repair?
The most common signs are a check-engine light, rough running or stalling, unfamiliar noises (knocking, ticking, hissing), loss of power, smoke from the exhaust, overheating, or visible oil or coolant leaks. Any one of those is worth an inspection — engine issues rarely fix themselves, and waiting usually turns a small repair into a much bigger one.
What does the check-engine light mean?
It’s your vehicle’s onboard diagnostic system flagging a problem — anywhere from a loose gas cap to a serious engine or emissions issue. The light itself doesn’t tell you what’s wrong, but the stored trouble codes do. We read those codes, diagnose the actual cause, and walk you through what it’ll take to fix.
Is it safe to drive with the check-engine light on?
A steady light usually means you can drive carefully to get it checked soon. A flashing check-engine light signals a serious misfire that can damage your catalytic converter — reduce speed and get it looked at right away. What’s the difference between engine repair, rebuild, and replacement?

A replacement means installing a new, remanufactured, or used engine.
